In December 2025 I will publish in Leidschrift:
Het Nederlandse agrarisch bestuursmodel in een periode van modernisering naar marktwerking. Een historische analyse (The Dutch Agricultural Governance Model in a Period of Modernisation towards Market Orientation: A Historical Analysis) . For an English translation click here.
My recent publications are:
Planas, Jordi, Schuurman, Anton, & Segers, Yves (Eds.). (2025). The Formation of Agricultural Governance. The Interplay between State and Civil Society in European Agriculture, 1870-1940. Turnhout: Brepols. In this volume we plead to see the active role civil society organisations played in agricultural governance next to and in support of the state).
Together with Jordi and Yves I wrote the introduction:
The Formation of Agricultural Governance. The Interplay between State and Civil Society in European Agriculture, 1870-1940, pp. 13–37. (this was in 2022 published as a working paper)
My own contribution is titled:
Dutch agricultural governance, 1870s-1930s. The making of agricultural institutions and policies as an outcome of the coevolution of state and civil society. pp. 37–59. It is, as the title state, an application of our emphasis on the important role of civil society in agricultural governance.
