Anton Schuurman is researcher at the chair group Economic & Environmental History from Wageningen University, the Netherlands.  He has published mainly on material culture, rural transformations, historical demography and the relationship between social theory and history. He is interested in finding new ways of history writing either by applying new methodologies (like in his material culture work) or by making new connections (like in his work on Dutch rural transformations).

He is now writing a book, in Dutch, on the construction of agriculture as an economic sector in the Netherlands in the nineteenth century.
